Browing M2 HB.50 (12,7x99) is a very powerful machine gun with an effective firing range of over 2000 meters. The machine gun was put to use after the First World War and by the 1930s it was modernized. Amongst other features was given a new, heavier barrel (HB=Heavy Barrel). Since then it has remained unchanged and is still in use today. In the first Indochina war it was used by the French mainly on heavy vehicles and on important installations and forts.
