JAPANESE ARISAKA RIFLES |
Ariska carbine 44 with foldable bayonet. |
The Japanese army was mainly equipped with different kinds of rifles. The Viet Minh made large confiscations of Japanese war material at the end of World War two and were given a lot of military material from the Chinese after the people’s revolution in 1949. It is presumed that the shorter versions were preferable, since they were more manoeuvrable. The Arisaka was available with different calibres; first 6,5mm and later 7,7mm. The names of the weapons
follow the Japanese calendar, and you should not be fooled to think
that i.e the Arisaka 38 is from 1938. |
