SKS 45

The Siminov SKS 45 appeared shortly before the AK 47 and had the same caliber, 7,62 x 39. It had a 10 rounds magazine, semi auto only and a foldable bayonet as standard. When it was put into service it was still considered to be better to equip troops with a rifle rather than an automatic rifle because of the slightly better accuracy and more efficient ammunition handling. Soldiers equipped with automatic weapons had a tendency to waste to much ammunition.

The weapon was manufactured in China with a slight change of appearance under the name Type 68. This weapon start to appear in Indochina after 1950.
